Summer School

Why Choose To Do A Summer School For Your Child?

As the summer holiday approaches, I want to address the concern of summer holiday academic regression in children. Research has consistently shown that students experience a decline in academic skills and knowledge during extended breaks from school. This “summer slide” or “summer learning loss” can significantly impact their educational progress.

Studies have found that students can lose up to 3 month’s worth of learning over the summer, with maths skills being particularly affected (Cooper et al., 1996).

To mitigate this issue, it is important to implement effective strategies. Encouraging reading, enrolling in summer programs, embracing educational technology, and promoting parental involvement can help maintain and improve academic skills during the break.

By working together as parents and educators we can provide our children with a summer that combines relaxation, exploration, and continued growth.

Why not minimise the impact of summer learning loss and ensure a smoother transition into the new academic year?

My son has loved his time at Kip Chadderton with Ann, Ivan and Elaine. They are so helpful and have helped him get ready for his SATs. Thank you so much, The Wilds.

My experience at KIP has been outstanding. Ivan, my math teacher, provided tremendous support, while Ann helped me with my English and guided me in passing my exams, especially since I was new to the country. KIP offers a very conducive environment for learning alongside other tutors, and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering enrollment.
